What is SEL?
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which students acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to recognize and manage their emotions, demonstrate care and concern for others, establish positive relationships, and make responsible decisions, handle challenging conditions constructively, and much more.
Partnering with Schools and Families
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is crucial for young children, as it provides a foundation for safe and positive learning, and enhances students' abilities to succeed in school, careers, and life. Teaching social skills and emotional literacy in the classroom, or other settings, builds vocabulary and language, as well as the skills needed to handle everyday situations in a healthy way. SEL lessons help children to manage emotions, solve conflicts, show respect, and build relationships. Learning and practicing these skills, early and often, has proven to promote mental health and academic success.
Kristen Perrotti, founder of Be Well with SEL, LLC partners with schools, community based centers, and families to provide SEL lessons and workshops, including anxiety management, anger management, friendship skills, social skills, self esteem, self regulation, school readiness and more. These SEL enrichment lessons give students tools and strategies to manage their emotions and navigate their social world.
